In the last few years, many new lobbyist rules have come into force. With conflicting regulations and policies from both the provincial and federal levels of government, ensuring compliance can be challenging—especially with a new Prime Minister and an upcoming federal election.

This complimentary PAAC-Alberta webinar will provide members with an overview of federal third-party election laws, campaign finance laws and lobbying laws, in advance of the 2025 Canadian General Election. This seminar will:

·        explain the legal rules that apply to lobbyists, including common legal pitfalls,

·        offer tips on how lobbyists can limit legal, reputational and political risks

·        explain how lobbyists can mount a successful due diligence defence in the event of inadvertent non-compliance.

Presenter:

The webinar will be led by Kyle Morrow of Fasken Martineau DuMoulin LLP. Kyle maintains a broad public law practice, focused primarily on political law, anti-bribery and corruption law and white-collar criminal law. In addition to practicing law, Kyle teaches in the Clayton H. Riddell Graduate Program in Political Management at Carleton University. He was born and raised in Ponoka, Alberta and currently resides in Ottawa, Ontario.
