Andrea Chrysanthou, APR
Andrea Chrysanthou is a multiple award-winning communicator and educator with morethan a decade of experience in public relations and public affairs.
As Director of Communications and Public Affairs at Canada’s leading public relations firm, NATIONAL Public Relations, Andrea leads successful multi-channel public affairs campaigns for some of the country's most respected companies. Her media relations strategies have won awards from the Canadian Public Relations Society and consistently lead to coverage in top-tier media across the country and internationally. She also counsels clients dealing with reputational issues, helping them to not only mitigate risks but to leverage crises to improve reputation and build stronger relationships withstakeholders.
When she is not supporting clients, Andrea teaches and guest-lectures at several post-graduate institutions, including the University of Guelph, Humber, and she also regularly mentors recent grads through various regional and national initiatives.
Prior to her career in communications, Andrea worked as a journalist and producer at some of Canada’s top national broadcasters as well as international news organizations.The experience gives her a unique understanding of what the media needs to actualize a great story.
Andrea is one of less than 500 Canadians Accredited in Public Relations (APR) through the Canadian Public Relations Society and also holds a Bachelor of Applied Arts in Journalism from Ryerson University. Passionate about advancing the communications industry in Canada, she serves as Vice President of the Public Affairs Association of Canada and as the Membership Chair for the CPRS Toronto Chapter.
