Richard Truscott

PAAC Alberta Chapter President

Richard is a veteran of public affairs across Western Canada, with over 30 years of experience in public policy, advocacy, government relations, crisis communications, public relations, and issues management.

He joined Prairie Sky Strategy after a decade in senior leadership at the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB), where he drove policy and regulatory change at all government levels. As Vice-President for Alberta and BC, he led the organization’s teams in both provinces and served as the primary spokesperson, strategist, and lobbyist.

Richard began his career as an advisor to the Leader of the Official Opposition on Parliament Hill and later became the Saskatchewan Director for the Canadian Taxpayers’ Federation, earning media recognition as one of the most effective public policy advocates in the province.

His private sector roles include senior positions at Venture Communications, Maple Leaf Strategies, and the Certified General Accountants Association of Alberta.

Richard holds a BA in Political Science from the University of Calgary, an MBA from Queen’s University, and an Accreditation in Public Relations from the Canadian Public Relations Society (CPRS), where he served as national president from 2012 to 2014. He currently serves as President of PAAC’s Alberta Chapter.
